Permit Received

Manasquan Borough finally issued the building permit on Thursday 8/23.  The date correction on the permit makes it look like it was ready on the 22nd.  I quess it would have been difficult to put in the date and call the owner (me) on the same day.  So, they put in the date called me on the 23rd, and changed the date to reflect their ineptitude.  The mason showed up bright and early on Monday the 27th.  I got to the house to see the mark-out of the new addition and the start of the foundation digging

He had come by the house on the weekend and removed the rear concrete steps and stoop
and the Bilco doors
An hour long and very intense thunderstorm stopped the digging at about 1PM but a good stab at the project was completed before the hole filled with water.

In the meantime a framer was busy on the inside removing the hardwood floors from the old kitchen area.  This wood is going to be used to patch the areas in the front rooms of the old house where the chimney and staircase was removed.

. Met with the plumber (Brian Perry of Perry's Plumbing and Heating) at the end of the day and he was surprised, as I was, to see that the old sunroom was built on a former concrete patioNot a big deal unless you have to run plumbing through it.  Yes, it's going to be our master bath .

Looking forward from the new rear wall of the house.
At the end of the day-finally an idea of the size and location of the addition.  With some good weather and some hard work, I'm told to expect to be closed in by the end of Sept.

It's exciting to see things moving along! The addition looks really BIG!! Can't wait to fill that new space with sandy feet. I am a little concerned that the plans do not reflect the location of the Manasquan bimini hook. E
